Training Services for Employers

What is OJT and How Much Can a Business Earn from OJT?

OJT is an agreement between the Consortium and an employer, wherein the employer is reimbursed a percentage of the trainee's wages during an established training period. Trainees must meet the Consortium's and the employer's requirements to qualify. Trainees are retained by the employer after successfully completing the training period.

The amount of funds reimbursed to an employer depends upon factors such as the number of jobs the company fills through OJT, wage rates, training period and the reimbursement percentage.

Example: A $10 per hour job with a 500 hour training period and a 50% reimbursement rate equals a total OJT payment of $2,500.

Paperwork is cut to a minimum! A simple two-page invoice is submitted to request payment from the Consortium. The employer may receive these funds in monthly increments or a one-time payment at the end of the training period.

Subsidized Work Experience Training

Public and private, non-profit businesses, local, state and Federal government agencies may choose to participate in the Consortium's work experience program. This service is generally provided to youth year-round on a part-time basis and full-time during the summer school vacation.

The Consortium pays 100% of the youth trainee's wages for a specific period of time. In return, the employer agrees to provide meaningful work assignments and adequate supervision to the youth assigned to their worksite. Because this service is designed to prepare youth for the workforce, the employer is not expected to retain the youth on an unsubsidized basis. Youth who successfully completes the work experience program should be able to compete for unsubsidized jobs available within their communities.
